Volunteer Instructions
- Pick up "trash" - the kind produced by humans. Picking up debris fallen from trees is optional.
- Pick up from streets, sidewalks, and especially alleys (where most junk is.) Not all areas have alleys.
- Look around a little along the alleys. Late summer vegetation can hide some trash pretty well.
- You may also pick up trash you see in someone's yard but only ONLY!! with the resident's permission. Go knock on the door, but if no one is home to ask permission of, do not stray over onto private property.
- Alleys are narrow. Do not go more than a few feet to the right or left of the tracks without permission.
- Do not stray onto private property. We are not here to decide what people should have in their yards.
- Return grabbers and gloves to the church. Drop trash bags at the edge of Bowman, Waid, or Cowing streets. For people working north of Cowing, can drop at Rosewood or Royale. For people working west of Oakwood, drop at Sherman or Winston. Bags will be picked up at the end of the day.
- If you find large or heavy items (a couch, pieces of lumber, etc.) make a note on your map where it is. Report such items to the coordinator at the church when you return equipment.
- An effort will be made to ferry people to and from areas a distance from the church, but this cannot be guaranteed. Be prepared to walk. If you do not finish your assigned area, circle the area that still must be covered.
