United Way of Delaware County's
Day of Action
on Friday, Sept. 12.

Everyone can select from
one-hour, two-hour, and half-day
service projects to help
make a difference in our community.

The Anthony-Northside Neighborhood Association (ANNA) is teaming up with United Way of Delaware County and Ball State University for the United Way Day of Action on Friday, September 12, 2025. Volunteers from across Muncie will join forces to clean, beautify, and refresh our neighborhood.

Event Highlights:

  • Date: Friday, September 12, 2025
  • Shifts: 8:30 AM–12:00 PM & 1:00–4:00 PM (Lunch 12:00–1:00 PM)
  • All supplies provided – gloves, grabbers, tools, safety vests, snacks, and water
  • Lunch provided by Jimmy John's for all volunteers who register/signup.

One day, hundreds of volunteers and a cleaner, safer neighborhood for everyone.

The United Way Day of Action is an annual volunteer event connecting local residents, Ball State students, and area businesses to improve our community.

On September 12, ANNA volunteers will:

  • Pick up litter along streets, sidewalks, and alleys
  • Clear overgrowth
  • Remove debris and weeds
  • Assist neighbors with light outdoor upkeep

All supplies are provided, along with water and snacks. Just bring comfortable clothes, sunscreen, sturdy shoes, and your community spirit.

Check in at the Oakwood Building, grab supplies, and join your team.

Meeting Location: Oakwood Building, Ball State University
📍 2501 N. Oakwood Ave., Muncie, IN 47304

Schedule:

  • 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM Morning Shift
  • 12:00 – 1:00 PM Lunch (provided for those who register/signup)
  • 1:00 – 4:00 PM Afternoon Shift

What to Expect:

  • Check in with ANNA coordinators at the Oakwood Building
  • Receive supplies and safety instructions
  • Work with your group at your assigned cleanup site
  • Return equipment and enjoy lunch

Restrooms will be available throughout the day at the Oakwood Building.

✅ Arrive 15 minutes early to check in and get your supplies.

Seen bulky trash or problem spots? Report them so we don't miss anything.

Help us target problem areas before the cleanup! If you've spotted:

  • Large trash piles
  • Tree limbs, brush, or leaves
  • Weeds
  • Bulky items (furniture, mattresses, tires, appliances, etc.)
  • Areas needing special attention

Request volunteers to help tidy up outside your home on cleanup day.

If you could use a little extra help, ANNA volunteers are happy to assist with light outdoor tasks, such as:

  • Litter pickup
  • Weeding and trimming
  • Removing small debris, trash, or junk

We'll do our best to match you with available volunteers during the Day of Action.

✅ Request help no later than September 10 to ensure volunteer availability.

Find your assigned streets, sidewalks, and alleys for the day's work.

The Anthony-Northside neighborhood will be divided into smaller project zones for cleanup. Volunteers will be assigned a specific zone and given a map at check-in.

Zones include:

  • Streets
  • Sidewalks
  • Alleys

Please focus on public areas unless a resident gives permission to enter private property.

✅ Check your zone map before leaving the Oakwood Building.

Follow these simple steps to collect trash safely and effectively.

What to Collect:

  • Litter like bottles, cans, paper, cardboard, and plastic
  • Fallen branches/leaves

Where to Collect:

  • Streets, sidewalks, and alleys
  • Only enter yards with resident permission

Trash Bag Drop-Off Points:

  • Bowman, Waid, or Cowing Streets
  • Rosewood or Royale (north of Cowing)
  • Sherman or Winston (west of Oakwood)

Other Guidelines:

  • Return gloves and grabbers to the Oakwood Building
  • Report large/heavy items to coordinators at the end of your shift
  • Be prepared to walk—rides to distant sites are not guaranteed
  • If you don't finish your zone, mark the unfinished areas on your map

✅ Follow your safety guidelines and drop bags at designated points.

Letting us know you plan to volunteer helps us prepare supplies (walk-ups are welcome, with registration preferred).
